Aisha N. Charles --- Licensed Attorney and Clinical Social Worker
If you’re here because you’re feeling disconnected, anxious, and lonely, you’re in the right place.

Life might feel overwhelming right now. Perhaps you’re constantly on edge, burdened by an unrelenting sense of dread. Maybe your mind is racing, filled with overthinking and self-doubt. You might be wrestling with loneliness, perfectionism, depression, or the persistent feeling that no matter what you do, it’s never enough.

Welcome to Mindfulness and Motivation. I’m Aisha, your trauma therapist in TX, WA, and SC. I’m here to help you work through the anxiety, depression, and loneliness that plague your day-to-day life.
You don’t have to navigate this alone. Together, we’ll create a space where you can reconnect with yourself, heal from the past, and find a healthier way forward.
What is trauma?
Trauma is more than the events or experiences we endure. It’s how those life experiences shape our emotions, behaviors, and sense of safety and belonging in the world. It can show up in many ways, including:
-
Chronic anxiety, depression, or loneliness
-
A constant state of hypervigilance and unease
-
Difficulty trusting others, forming relationships, or maintaining healthy connections
-
Struggling to communicate your feelings, needs, or desires
-
Deep feelings of unworthiness, shame, or self-criticism
-
Flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts
Anyone can experience trauma at any time – as a child, in adulthood, at home, or at work. Unresolved trauma leaves you feeling disconnected from yourself and others. Even if you don’t think your experiences “count” as trauma, the impact on your mental health is real: trauma rewires your physiology and brain to focus on fear and hypervigilance as a protective mechanism.
Whether you’ve lived through one or more specific traumatic events or are struggling with the long-term effects of stress and adversity, I’m here to help you process, heal, and move forward.

Benefits of Psychotherapy ---
Improves Emotional Self-Regulation
Self-regulation is, to put it simply, your ability to calm yourself down when your emotions feel overwhelming. When you’re able to self-regulate, you don’t drown in your feelings, no matter how painful they are. They may still hurt, but you can manage them in healthy ways.

Self-regulation is a skill that even children can learn – but, unfortunately, most of us aren’t taught as children. By working with a psychotherapist, you can strengthen your self-regulation skills and learn how to cope with your feelings.

A big part of improving self-regulation is learning how to manage stress, which is another powerful benefit of psychotherapy.
Understanding why people suffer, how they change, and how to help them live more
satisfying and gratifying lives is a fascinating, huge, and important undertaking.
